A Learning Curve

No luck getting to sleep tonight yet. So . . . some random thoughts about a few things I'm better at now than I was even yesterday:
  • Paying in pounds and pence without looking helpless
  • Finding locations on campus without taking the long way or getting completely lost
  • Speeding around curves in a taxi without panicking because another car is coming down the side of the road I think we should be on
  • Walking down sidewalks and stairs on the left side
  • Knowing classmates’ names and stories
  • Drinking instant coffee or none at all
  • Walking, walking, walking everywhere
  • Writing the day before the month
  • Ordering pints or half pints of beers I’ve never heard of
  • Remembering to say: “toilet” instead of “bathroom”; “single” or “return” instead of “one-way” or “round trip”; “ring” instead of “call”; and “whiz around” “straight away” and such!
  • Actually answering my rented international cell phone in time before calls go to voice mail, which I don’t yet know how to access

it will be interesting to see if all those things become common place for ya by the time you get home. You will get alot of honks in bloomington for driving on the left!!
What kind of pints are you drinking? Ale's, Heffe-Weise's, etc.
Do you like the dark or light beers?

One of my greatest hopes is that you come home saying "whiz around" like it's the most natural expression!

It's cool you're hitting the learning curve so early... I'm sure it'll be smoother sailing after a few more days!

I miss you already, and my husband has not golfed with me this week.(yet) We just got back from camping, and I am catching up on laundry.
The "whiz around" expression brings to mind Relay for Life! "I do say, the chaps where whizing around the camper all night!"
Have a pint for Mark.

I would freak out if I saw a car coming my direction on the wrong side of the street. That is not something I had thought about...
